Business Models for Online Contents

The panel Business Models for Online Contents investigated various entrepreneurial endeavors of platform-based access to online content, and how they are monetized. Crowdfunding, licenses or subscription models are only a few of the strategies institutions have to generate revenues in cultural & creative industries, and to secure revenue for artists and content developers.

These questions are even more important today, given the situation created by COVID-19, which is forcing players in the cultural and creative industries, public and private, to rethink their activities through different business models.

Speakers: Brendon Ciecko (US), Ulvi Kasimov (UK), Aleksandra Artamonovskaja (CZ/UK), Sabine Seymour (AT) Moderators: Nathalie Pichard (CH), Thierry Baujard (FR)

This conference was realized within Digital Cross Over and co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.

Promises and Realities of Digital Technologies

The questions were provocations about the relationship between art and technology; curating and technology; and the evaluation and monetisation of art through technological systems. They are inevitably embedded within the capitalist modus operandi of current environments, such as web-based environments, which at a certain point seemed to promise the democratisation of communication and art. The guests on this panel were artists, practitioners, academics and curators.

Speakers: Tsila Hassine, Christopher Kulendran Thomas, Aleksandra Artamonovskaja and Samuel Capps, chaired by Lee Weinberg.
